Recorded at Irontracks Studios in Brea, CA. This was the last song written for the album. The music and melody idea were roughly locked in. When I went to write lyrics for it, I waited a bit, not wanting to revisit the topic that consumed and dominated my thoughts for the half of year. I'll save it for next record I thought and be happy about having a couple of ideas already in place as a good foundational starting point for that next creative cycle. Waking up one morning but not wanting to get out of bed yet, I reached for my phone and opened and immediately found myself in IG reels, scrolling past the first couple and then I came to scene from a movie I've never seen but knew about. Some movies for whatever reason we just instinctively stay away from. This movie was one of those for me and I can't really explain why. The clip showed a man who came face to face with a woman they saw as the love of their life but for reasons unbeknownst to me, she didn't recognize him. I could see that confusion in his face. The disbelief. I knew it the look and instantly identified those feelings. I got out of bed immediately and landed in the chair in front of my instruments and began to put pen to paper frantically for the next 5-10 minutes and with very minimal edits made, the final lyrics for the newly titled song "Strangers Now" lay in front of me. Interestingly, I noticed where, in the past I usually wrote "you", I was reading "she". It felt like a shift. It felt like movement, perhaps even progress. It felt like some closure. It felt like the perfect song for the final chapter of the story.
